MiD Mediation & Counselling
Family Mediation helps those involved in family breakdown to communicate better with one another and reach their own decisions about all or some of the issues arising from separation or divorce.
Counselling
Counselling provides an opportunity to talk things through and to acknowledge and deal with painful emotions. It can help individuals to come to terms with change and loss and begin to think about rebuilding their future.
Adult counselling
Adult Counselling MID offers counselling for individuals and couples on a time-limited basis. Normally we provide a maximum of 6 to 8 sessions. There is no waiting list.
A standard charge of £50 is made for counselling; however, reduced means-assessed rates are available for those on low incomes and/or benefits.
Children’s counselling
Our children’s counselling service offers help for children and young people whose families are affected by separation, divorce or remarriage. It offers a safe and private place for children to talk about their own responses to what has happened.
Our counsellors are experienced in listening to children and young people and do not take sides. What is said during the sessions is confidential between the children and the worker. The counsellor will talk about the sessions with parents only if the child requests it, or with the child’s consent. The only exception to this rule is if there is a question of somebody being at risk of injury or abuse. As our service is a registered charity, we ask for a donation from parents so we can continue to offer this valuable service.
Please also remember to Gift Aid any donations if appropriate.
